Surgeon at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Master in Electrical Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes and PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Université Catholique de Louvain. Between 2000-2002 he worked as Senior Researcher at the Communications and Remote sensing laboratory, in the medical image processing group. During 2003 he was with the chemical sensors group at the Centro Nacional de Microelectrónica (CNM - Spain). Currently he is a full professor at the Department of Diagnostic Imaging of the School of Medicine. His main interests have been lately focused on computational models applied to the development of metrics that facilitate the comparison of complex biological patterns, in particular some pathological structures.
