Successful realization of the 1st Symposium on Digital Pathology: RedPat

On August 6, 2022, the first Digital Pathology Symposium of the RedPat project was held at the Eduardo Carranza auditorium on the Barcelona campus, with the aim of socializing and sharing knowledge about academic and research experiences, as well as medical and technological applications in the area of digital pathology, computational pathology, pathomics, and artificial intelligence in cancer, to the academic, scientific, medical, civilian and general population of Higher Education Institutions, Entities and Health Service Providers Institutions, public and private, in the Orinoquia and Amazonia region. Mónica Silva, the General Director of Social Projection, Omar Yesid Beltrán Gutierréz and the Director of the Center for Social Projection of the Faculty of Basic Sciences and Engineering, Professor Miguel Ángel Navarro Ramírez, were present at the opening of the event.
Among the speakers at the event were researchers Eduardo Romero Castro, MD, Ph.D, Viviana Leticia Arias Pedroza, MD, Paula Toro Soto, MD. and Angel Alfonso Cruz Roa, Ph.D., with conferences such as "Pathological micropatterns with computational analysis", "Experience in digital pathology of the Department of Pathology and Telemedicine Center of the National University", "Current Digital Pathology from the experience of a pathologist", and "RedPat - R+D+i Network of Digital Pathology in Meta: Presentation, Advances and Perspectives", respectively.

The afternoon session of the event was dedicated to the presentation of papers by postgraduate, master's and doctoral students from the research groups GITECX and Cuidado de la Universidad de Llanos, and the research group CIMALAB of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, on topics related to research on the status, morbidity and mortality of cancer in the Orinoquia, the Departmental Hospital of Villavicencio, as well as research in computational pathology and artificial intelligence in gastric and digestive, ovarian, prostate and lung cancer.
